Holos Partners with Scale AI

Holos is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Scale, a recognized leader in both the commercial and defense sectors who has been blazing new trails within the DoD with their Donovan platform.

Together, we are thrilled to unveil our first major achievement under this partnership: securing a $1.25 million AFWERX SBIR Phase II contract to revolutionize AR training for the U.S. Air Force.

This initiative harnesses the power of advanced Artificial Intelligence to streamline the creation of immersive AR training modules, with the potential to reduce development time by as much as 75%. When achieved, this capability will enable Air Force instructors to author hundreds of custom training exercises at a dramatically faster pace, equipping airmen with the skills and readiness required to navigate diverse, high-stakes scenarios.Ultimately, this vital capability will be set to save lives by equipping airmen with unparalleled preparedness and response skills to master critical skills in high-stakes scenarios.

This collaboration utilizes the concepts of Just-in-Time (JIT) training and Multi-Capable Airmen (MCA) to ensure that airmen are able to rapidly upskill as needs within the mission arise, especially in austere environments.

“Scale and Holos’ combined Augmented Reality & AI capabilities will help to rapidly create, distribute, and update training scenarios for topics such as Engine Repair, Small Arms Training, Combat Vehicle Maintenance, and Mission Planning to enhance and supercharge our Multi-Capable Airmen in remote deployed environments,” said Dan Borkhus, CEO at Holos.

Holos’ no-code AR training platform will be enabled by Scale’s Donovan LLM Platform to provide hyper-relevant suggestions to instructors during the curriculum development process. This integration will enable instructors and administrators to upload existing 2D content such as training doctrine, manuals, and other coursework to intelligently suggest course outlines, prop up virtual environments, and prepare relevant 3D assets within the virtual environment.

Scale AI, which has been dedicated to accelerating AI readiness to the Department of Defense, was issued a $249m-ceiling blanket purchase agreement by the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) in 2022 and has established itself as the go-to platform for customizing and deploying ML models onto DoD networks.

The capability generated through this joint effort has the potential to bring effective Augmented Reality training to the U.S. Air Force at scale while saving mission-critical time and resources.

This collaboration signals a testament to how two technologies can combine to offer a life-saving capability that equips airmen with the skills and confidence needed to navigate and survive in the most demanding situations.
